Sonali Bank, bkash launch fund transfer facility

Sonali Bank, the country's largest state-owned commercial bank, in partnership with bKash, has launched a two-way fund transfer facility for greater convenience of its clients.

Under this service, customers can add money to bkash accounts from their Sonali Bank accounts while they are also allowed to transfer money to Sonali Bank accounts from bkash accounts, said a media statement issued on Thursday.

The two organisations launched this instant fund transfer facility at a city hotel on Wednesday.

The service will uplift people's living standard through the digital financial inclusion which is another step towards the realisation of Digital Bangladesh, the media statement read.

With this, 25 million customers of 1225 Sonali Bank branches can experience seamless, secure, time-saving and cost-effective banking services.

At the same time, small-amount transactions through bKash will reduce pressure on bank branches and create opportunities to pay more attention to the customers with specialised needs.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the event, while Md Ashadul Islam, senior secretary to Financial Institutions Division; and Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui, chairman of Sonali Bank, were present there as special guests.

Md Ataur Rahman Prodhan, managing director of Sonali Bank Limited; Kamal Quadir, chief executive officer of bKash, Bangladesh Bank representative, and other high officials of Sonali Bank and bKash were also present at the event.

Under this facility, customers now can easily link their Sonali Bank account credentials with bKash app in few simple steps.

Credentials of both the accounts should match. After linking accounts, customers can easily add money from bank to bKash and also transfer money from bKash to Sonali bank accounts round the clock.
