A 21-year-old youth was stabbed to death last night (16 April) in Sylhet, reportedly over a longstanding feud.
The victim, Tushar Ahmed Chowdhury, a resident of the city's Raynagar area, was reportedly known for his participation in the student-led protests during July and August last year.
The incident took place around 10:30pm at Doldoli Tea Garden in the Shah Eidgah area of Sylhet city.
Sylhet Airport police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Anisur Rahman said, "Upon receiving the information, we recovered the body and sent it to Osmani Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. The body was handed over to the family on Wednesday afternoon."
"One person has been arrested in connection with the killing. We are conducting drives to detain the others involved. However, no case has been filed yet," the OC added.
Police confirmed that the killing stemmed from a prior dispute between Tushar and the arrestee, Javed Ahmed.
Javed was arrested later that night from a house in the Bara Bazar area of Amberkhana in the city.
Police said they have identified others involved in the incident and are continuing efforts to arrest them.
