Witness depositions conclude for the day in 3 Purbachal plot cases against Hasina, family

A Dhaka court has concluded recording the testimonies of the plaintiffs in three corruption cases involving former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and others over corruption in plot allotments by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk).
The depositions of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Deputy Director Salahuddin, and assistant directors Afnan Jannat Keya and SM Rashedul Hasan were completed today (11 August) at the court of Md Abdullah Al Mamun, judge of Dhaka's Special Judge Court No 5.
According to Prosecutor Meer Ahmed Ali Salam, summons had been issued earlier for the three plaintiffs to appear in court.

On 31 July, the same court framed charges in the cases and ordered the trial to begin.
Arrest warrants were issued that day for the accused, who were declared fugitives.
The charges in three separate cases involve 12 people, including Sheikh Hasina; 17 people, including Sajeeb Wazed Joy; and 18 people, including Saima Wazed Putul.
ACC filed six separate cases in January over alleged irregularities in plot allotments. Charge sheets have since been submitted in all six cases.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court had earlier ordered the six cases be transferred to Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 and Dhaka Special Judge Court-5 for trial.
Other accused include Sheikh Rehana's daughters Tulip Rizwana Siddiq and Azmina Siddiq Rumpunti, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby; former housing secretary Shahid Ullah Khandker, former additional secretary (administration) Kazi Wasiuddin, and former Rajuk chairman Anisur Rahman Miah, among other Rajuk and other government officials.
