The Ministry of Water Resources has digitised 162 of its services in order to provide an updated and better service for people.

State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque inaugurated the services at the ministry on Sunday.

Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, he said, "In just two weeks, 162 services of the ministry have been digitised which is a landmark achievement in the digital advancement not only for the ministry, but also for the country as well."

"This is a gift from the ministry on the occasion of Mujib Year."

The digital services will be further enhanced in the future, added the state minister.

Because of the digitisation, 162 services including information application, leave application, PRL approval application, maternity leave, job stabilisation, departmental case, utility bill, among others, will be available online.

Among the subordinate agencies, 31 services of Water Development Board, 21 services of the Department of Bangladesh Haor and Wetland Development, 26 services of the Water Resources Planning Organisation, 30 services of the River Research Institute and 21 services of Joint River Commission have been digitised.

Senior Secretary of the ministry Kabir Bin Anwar presided over the meeting, while AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, the deputy minister for water resources, was present as the special guest.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak and senior Secretary to the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology NM Ziaul Alam also joined the programme virtually as special guests.

Enamul Hoque Shameem said, "Risking our lives, we have dealt with cyclones and floods this year. The digitisation of the services will bring dynamism to our work."

It is mentionable that the Ministry of Water Resources has been transformed into a digital ministry by converting a total of 162 services, including 33 services of the ministry, and 129 of its subsidiaries, using the MyGov platform.

The digitisation allows the customers to easily apply for digital service, pay for related services, know progress of the services, submit required documents and other related activities by dialing 333 call center or performing through digital centre.
