US took 5 days, we finish vote counting in 3-4 minutes: CEC
“The voting has been going quite well"
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda today said that the United States has a lot to learn from Bangladesh as the country took a long five days to count the votes in the presidential election, whereas the election commission takes three to four minutes for counting votes during the elections here.
The CEC made the remark after casting his vote in the Dhaka-18 by-elections at the IES School Center in Dhaka's Uttara on Thursday, Somoy TV reports.
"The voting has been going quite well," he further added.

The by-elections of two parliamentary constituencies – Dhaka 18 and Sirajganj 1 are being held on Thursday.
Eight candidates from six political parties including Awami League and BNP are contesting for these two seats.
The voting has started with the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) at 8:00am and continue till 4:00pm without any recess.
Sirajganj-1 constituency fell vacant after the death of former health minister and Awami League MP Mohammed Nasim on 13 June.
Dhaka-18 fell vacant following the death of former home minister and Awami League MP Sahara Khatun on 9 July.
