US assures support for aviation growth as Bangladesh seeks cooperation

The United States has assured Bangladesh of continued cooperation in developing the country's aviation sector, as Dhaka sought enhanced collaboration to accelerate growth in civil aviation.
The assurance came during a courtesy meeting between US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen and the newly appointed minister and state minister of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the ministry office this morning (3 March), reads a ministry press release.

During the discussion, both sides emphasised further strengthening bilateral ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
The Bangladesh side sought US cooperation in modernising and expanding the country's aviation sector, including technical support and capacity development.
In response, Ambassador Christensen assured that the US would continue to extend its full support to the current government.
The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of both countries to deepening partnership and promoting sustainable growth in Bangladesh's aviation industry.
Earlier, the ministry announced that the government is set to sign a deal with Boeing to buy 14 planes for Biman as part of the country's efforts to reduce the trade gap with the US.
According to a previous announcement from the ministry, this move aims to have the tariff on Bangladeshi products cut in return.
