Two killed as motorbike hit by train after breaking signal in Rajshahi

Two motorcyclists were killed after they crossed the barrier at a rail gate disobeying the signal and was hit by a moving train in Rajshahi.
The accident happened at the Belpukur Rail Gate under Puthia upazila in Rajshahi around 6pm today (26 March), said police.
The deceased were identified as Mizanur Rahman, 33, son of Abdur Razzaque from Chandpur Bazar under Natore's Sadar upazila and Johurul Islam, 35, son of Solaiman Islam from the same area.
The spot where the accident had occurred falls under Pabna's Ishwardi Railway Police Station's jurisdiction.
Contacted, Officer-in-Charge of the police station Ziaur Rahman said, "Railway officials put down a barrier when Banglabandha Express coming to Rajshahi from Abdulpur reached near Belpukur Railway crossing."
"The accident happened when the motorcycle crossed the barrier and entered the rail track. Two riders of the motorcycle died on the spot after getting hit by the train which arrived at the spot instantly," the OC added.
The OC further said, "Police have been sent to the spot. Once the bodies are recovered, they will be handed over to the families. An accidental death case will be filed with Ishwardi Police Station in connection with the incident."
