Two killed in clash over football match in Sunamganj
Two people were killed and at least five others injured in a clash between two groups over a football match in Doarabazar upazila of Sunamganj on Friday (15 August).
The deceased were identified as Abdul Matin and Akbar Ali.
The incident occurred in the afternoon at the field of Muktijoddha Helal-Khosru High School in Lakshmipur union. Lakshmipur Union Parishad Chairman Zahirul Islam and Doarabazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidul Haque confirmed the incident.

According to locals, tension erupted during the game, which soon escalated into a violent clash. Abdul Matin and Akbar Ali were critically injured and died on the way to the hospital.
The OC said police brought the situation under control and additional forces have been deployed in the area to maintain peace.
An investigation into the incident is underway, he added.
