Rail communications between Joypurhat and rest of the country resumed seven hours after a passenger train rammed into a bus at Puranapoil rail level crossing here Saturday morning.

Two probe committees have been formed to investigate the accident that killed at least 12 people and injured eight others.

Mihir Kanti Guha, General Manager of the Railway West told BSS that two rescue trains from Parbatipur and Pakshi removed the passenger train from the track at around 2.00.

Rail communications resumed at around 2:40 pm, he added.

A-four member probe committee of the Railway West zone was formed as Divisional Transportation Officer Nasir Uddin its convener to investigate the accident.

'Three other members of the committee are Mechanical Engineer Ashish Kumar, Divisional Engineer Abdur Rahim and Medical Officer Shakil Ahmed', said Mihir Kanti.

The committee has been asked to submit its reports within three working days.

Another 3- three-member probe committee was formed with Additional District Magistrate Md Reza Hasan as its convener, said Deputy Commissioner Md Shariful Islam.

At least 12 people were killed and eight injured when a bus collided with a train in Joypurhat Sadar upazila today.

A passenger bus of Bandhan Paribahan collided with a Rajshahi-bound Uttara Express train from Parbatipur at Puranapoil rail crossing this morning, according to witnesses.
