On Saturday, Taslima Begum went to Uttar Badda Govt Primary School to collect information about her daughter's admission there.

No place left for a single mother

She was taken to the head teacher of the school for interrogation while a rumour spread outside about a child lifter had been held. Later she was dragged out of the school by a mob and then beaten mercilessly.

On information, police rescued critically injured Taslima and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead.

Taslima hailed from Raipur upazila in Laxmipur and was living with her daughter and mother in the capital. She was separated from her husband two years back. Taslima has an 11-year-old son who has been living with his father in Badda area.
