Third party took chance over Bhola clash: DIG Faruque

A third party took a chance on the clash between police and people at Bhola's Borhanuddin Upazila, in which four people were killed.

The deputy inspector general of Chattogram range, Khandaker Golam Faruque, made this comment while inaugurating an e-trafficking system at the district police lines in Brahmanbaria on Tuesday afternoon.

He said, "Muslim scholars left the place when the additional deputy inspector general, the police superintendent and the upazila nirbahi officer assured them that legal steps will be taken. Suddenly, a third party incited the crowd and made them attack the madrasa and vandalise it. They vandalised a room where the Quran was kept. They also vandalised a room where senior police officials and the UNO were seated. Police opened fire on them when they tried to kill the senior police officials and the UNO."

"A temple near Hathazari madrasa in Chattogram was attacked after the incident in Bhola. A third party came to the road and attacked the temple in the name of Hathazari madrasa. Later, we observed the video footage and saw that students of Hathazari madrasa saved the temple. Otherwise, the third party would have vandalised the temple," Golam Faruque added.

"A third party tries to take a chance some times by misusing technology. This type of thing happened when I was DIG of Rangpur. We arrested the person who gave a status on Facebook. However his ID was hacked. We explained this to the local people. But another party attacked the homes of Hindu people," he further said.

Golam Faruque also said, "People will try to take a chance in such a situation, we all should be aware of it. We have made Bangladesh free of terrorism. Now, we are fighting drugs and rumours."
