Tagore, Nazrul live equally in hearts of people: Indian envoy

Acting Indian High Commissioner (AHC) Pawankumar Badhe said Rabindranath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam live equally in the hearts of people of both India and Bangladesh at an event in Dhaka yesterday (14 May).
The programme was organised at the Bangladesh National Museum by Itihash O Oitijjo Parishad in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Culture Centre, Tapoban, Nrityanchal and bahumatrik.com.

A major attraction, "Nrityagiti", a dance-music tableau directed by Shamim Ara Nipa and Shibli Mohammad of Nrityanchal, featured group dances to 14 popular songs by the two poets.
Cultural Affairs minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury attended as chief guest, while professor Niranjan Adhikari presided over the event.
Professor Tarik Manzur of Dhaka University and professor Ahmed Reza of Jahangirnagar University presented papers at the discussion session.
The event also featured an exhibition of portraits of the poets drawn by over 100 students from 13 schools in Dhaka and surrounding areas.
Certificates were given to the young artists at the end of the programme.
