Students ready to take to streets again to prevent rehabilitation of killers: Sarjis Alam

The students are ready to take to the streets again to prevent any attempt to rehabilitate the killers of mass people during the July-August uprising, Sarjis Alam, general secretary of the July Shaheed Smriti Foundation, said today (7 December).

"Before 5 August, we stood united, ready to sacrifice our lives. Today, our commitment to securing justice for the perpetrators and thwarting any prospect of their rehabilitation remains undiminished," he said while speaking at an event organised to distribute financial assistance to the families of July revolution martyrs in Chattogram.

During the event, 105 martyrs' families from the Chattogram Division each received a cheque of Tk5 lakh.

"Despite the horrific nature of their crimes, the names of these murderers are once again being discussed in Bangladesh. Their political rights are being debated, even though they are nothing but pathological killers. For the past 16 years, they have continuously harmed the people of Bangladesh in countless ways," Sarjis said.

Addressing all those mourning the loss of their loved ones in the uprising, Sarjis Alam said, "We must remain steadfast. Our voices will not be silenced until justice for these killings is achieved in Bangladesh."

He further said, "Many innocent lives were lost in July and August. I pledge my unwavering support to you all. Should anyone dare to serve as an agent for killer [former prime minister Sheikh] Hasina, we will stand united and confront them."
