Stall rent of Ekushey Book Fair reduced by 55%
Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 will open on 20 February
Bangla Academy authorities have decided to reduce stall rent for the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 by 55%, the fair's organising committee announced today (10 February).
The decision came after a meeting with publishers at the Shaheed Munir Chowdhury Conference Room of Bangla Academy to discuss the upcoming fair, according to a press release.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki presided over the meeting. At the meeting, publishers presented various demands to the government, highlighting the current situation of the publication industry.
The Cultural Affairs Adviser agreed with most of the demands, including the formulation of a book policy. He urged the publishers to submit a written proposal on the matter to the ministry.
He also announced the government's decision to cut stall rents by 55% for publishers participating in the fair, which will open on 20 February.
Publishers who had already deposited money at the previous rate will have the excess amount refunded, while those yet to pay can deposit the fee at the new reduced rate.
Cultural Affairs Secretary Md Mofidur Rahman, Director General of Bangla Academy Professor Mohammad Azam, the member-secretary of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 Steering Committee and other committee members were present at the meeting.
