SRB strengthens security across Dhaka after blasts, bus fire
Checkpoints, patrols and intelligence surveillance intensified.

The specialised police unit has intensified round-the-clock checkpoints, searches and foot and motorcycle patrols in crowded areas, major roads and around important installations, according to a press release issued today (19 September).
SRB-3 Intelligence and Media Officer Additional Superintendent of Police Md Mehedi Imran Siddiqui said the measures were aimed at maintaining law and order and preventing criminal activity, disorder and other untoward incidents.

Security has been particularly strengthened around key point installations (KPIs), busy areas and major roads, he said.
Special operations intensified
SRB-3 is also conducting special operations to recover illegal weapons, prevent theft and robbery, seize narcotics and thwart acts of sabotage, according to the statement.
"Searches are being conducted on suspicious individuals and vehicles. SRB-3 personnel on duty have been instructed to ensure that the movement of the general public is not disrupted," Mehedi Imran said.
He said intelligence surveillance had also been expanded alongside the increased checkpoints and patrols.
Field intelligence teams are continuing to monitor criminal groups, he added.
Earlier, crude bomb explosions were reported yesterday in several parts of Dhaka, including Malibagh, Mouchak, Mohakhali, Agargaon, Rampura, Dhaka College and Jatrabari.
A bus was also set on fire after being seized in front of Kafrul Police Station.
Following the incidents, police authorities increased security across the capital.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police said on Saturday morning that security had been strengthened at more than 200 locations through the deployment of checkpoints.
