3 specialised police units deployed to curb rising crimes: IGP
He also spoke about Operation Devil Hunt, a crackdown on criminals

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam has announced that specialised police units – Dhaka Metropolitan Police, and Anti-Terrorism Unit – along with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), will begin operations from today (24 February) to tackle the recent rise in theft and snatching.
Speaking at a workshop on law enforcement, human rights, and the environment at the Primary Training Centre in Rajshahi this morning, the IGP noted that incidents of snatching have increased both during the day and at night.
"It has been decided to implement a special system from Monday morning to prevent snatching. Dhaka Metropolitan Police, RAB, and the Anti-Terrorism Unit will conduct joint operations," he said.
"I hope this will be implemented from today. Let's see if it improves this way. If not, we will have to go to other plans," he added.
He also spoke about Operation Devil Hunt, a crackdown on criminals.
"Operation Devil Hunt is basically against those who commit terrorism and are anti-social. We started it a few days ago. There is a sizable component in the joint force. The police do not have such a large component. But actually, it is a joint party. You can see who is being caught in Devil Hunt. Terrorists, big terrorists, smugglers are all being caught."
The IGP further stated, "A group does not want a stable environment to be maintained in Bangladesh. There may be political motives behind it."
