5 additional IGPs sent into mandatory retirement
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued five separate notifications today (9 March) regarding this decision.
The government has sent five Additional Inspector Generals of Police (IGP) into mandatory retirement, including the Chief of Naval Police Kusum Dewan.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued five separate notifications today (9 March) regarding this decision. Senior Secretary of the Public Security Division Manzur Morshed Chowdhury signed the orders.
The other four officers are Additional IGP of Police Headquarters Abu Hasan Muhammad Tariq; Md Abdul Alim Mahmud, additional IGP (OSD) at Police Headquarters; Md Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, attached to Police Headquarters (TR); and Md Towfiq Mahbub Chowdhury, principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah in Rajshahi.
According to the notifications, the officers have been retired from government service in the public interest under Section 45 of the Government Service Act, 2018.
The notification further stated that they will receive retirement benefits as per the rules. The order will take effect immediately.
