Special virtual discussion held at the London High Commission marking 'Mujib Year Six Point Day'

The Bangladesh High Commission in London organised a virtual discussion program marking "Mujib Year 6-point Day" on Sunday.

The participants expressed firm commitment to face the ongoing coronavirus crisis in the country with courage, and to continue the trend of progress and prosperity of Bangladesh said a press release issued by the High Commission.

High Commissioner for Bangladesh to the United Kingdom (UK) Saida Muna Tasneem presided over this special virtual discussion.

Eminent journalist, columnist and lyricist of the immortal song of 21st February Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury and representative of the Bangladeshi community in the UK Sultan Mahmud Sharif joined the virtual discussion from the UK.

While former media advisor to the Prime Minister and the editor of 'The Observer' Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury and eminent journalist and editor of 'Bhorer Kagoj' Shyamal Dutta joined the virtual discussion from Bangladesh.

High Commissioner for Bangladesh to the UK, Saida Muna Tasneem said, "Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has implemented Bangabandhu's 6-points by building a prosperous and progressive Bangladesh and is constantly working to turn Bangladesh into the golden Bengal abiding by the ideals of Bangabandhu."

 "Even during this coronavirus epidemic, she is tackling the worst crisis of the century following the brave and courageous ideals of Bangabandhu's life," she added.

Saida also said that due to the successful leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, even during the Corona Crisis, the world-renowned Economist Magazine has identified Bangladesh as the ninth strongest economy among 66 other progressive economies of the world.

Not only that, as a result of timely steps taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, our hardworking and patriotic expatriates have sent a record amount of remittance to the country even during the current global lock-down which has resulted in the highest record in Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves.

The High Commissioner called upon the people concerned to do more promotion and research to make the new generation of British-Bangladeshis more aware about the true history of the six-points given by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and its underlying ideology.

The High Commissioner also paid respect to the Father of the Nation and the martyred members of his family and prayed for their salvation.

Syed Sajidur Rahman Faruk, General Secretary of the United Kingdom Awami League and Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury, Assistant General Secretary of the United Kingdom also took part in the discussion along with other officials of the High Commission.

On the occasion of the six-point day, special articles written by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with other articles published and disseminated in the media on the occasion were discussed.
