'Sotontro Shikkharthi Sommilon' panel announced for Jucsu polls
The panel was formally announced this evening (29 August) at the Bot Tola premises of the university by Bulbul Kabir, father of martyr Alif, who was killed in Savar during the July Uprising.
An 18-member panel titled "Sotontro Sikkharthi Sommilon", comprising general students of Jahangirnagar University, has been announced for the upcoming Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) election.
Abdur Rashid Jitu has been nominated for the position of vice-president (VP), while Shakil Ali will contest for the post of general secretary (GS).

Other nominated candidates include Touhidul Islam Nibir Bhuiyan for assistant general secretary (AGS), Hasibul Hasan Emon for education and research secretary, Turjo Kirtania for literature and publication secretary, and Mohammad Ifrat Amin Akshar for cultural secretary.
As part of their manifesto, the panel announced to work for academic reforms, increase research allocation, improve campus transport facilities, ensure food quality, encourage cultural and creative activities, and protect the environment and biodiversity.
Notably, the panel has not nominated any candidate for the post of sports secretary.
Explaining the decision, VP candidate Abdur Rashid Jitu said, "In honour of Mahmudul Hasan Kiran (Bangla-48), a player of the Bangladesh Under-23 national football team and the national team, we have refrained from fielding any candidate for the central sports secretary position."
