Bangladesh has clarified its position over Shamima Begum, a British citizen who left Britain to join Islamic State, saying that she was never a Bangladeshi citizen, has no right in this regard and will not be allowed to enter the country.
A press release was issued by the foreign ministry today in this regard.
The release said a recent news report about the British High Court's rejection of Shamima's application of British citizenship has caught the eye of the ministry.
According to various media reports, Shamima went to Syria at the age of 15 years and joined the militant group. As a result, the British government revoked her citizenship in February last year.
She appealed to the British High Court and the Special Immigration Appeals Commission against the British government's decision.
