A mobile court has fined a filling station in Satkhira Tk20,000 for allegedly selling previously stocked fuel at higher prices.
The drive was conducted at AB Khan Filling Station this morning (19 April), confirmed Assistant Commissioner Sahed Hossain of the Satkhira district administration.
He added that such drives will continue across the district.
Earlier, following a government announcement increasing the prices of fuel, Deputy Commissioner Afroza Akhtar instructed all filling stations in the district to sell their existing stock of fuel at previous prices.
She directed that only fuel supplied from depots afterwards should be sold at the newly fixed government rates.
However, from this morning, filling stations across the district reportedly began selling fuel at increased prices, Assistant Commissioner Sahed Hossain said.
When relevant tag officers intervened, fuel sales were halted for about an hour after station owners resisted. Later, they resumed sales at the revised, higher prices.
Following the incident, the district administration launched a drive. At the outset, AB Khan Filling Station in the town was fined Tk20,000, he added.
