Sacrificial animals to be transported to Dhaka and to Chattogram by train

Bangladesh Railway has decided to bring sacrificial animals for the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha by train at conventional fares from northern and western parts of the country to Dhaka and to Chattogram.

Railway Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujan made the announcement during a press briefing today.

The possible date, route and station will be determined after consulting with the Department of Animal Resources and the concerned business community, he said.

The minister also said the train service for sacrificial animals can be started from any day based on the demand of traders.

He said the maximum fare per cow from Gaibandha, Pabna and Kushtia to Chattogram could be Tk2,500 and to Dhaka Tk1,500 to Tk2,000.

Interested traders are requested to contact the railway control number 01711-691520.

It may be mentioned that Bangladesh Railway is operating a train called Mango Special from Chapainawabganj and Rajshahi to transport mangoes. As a result, traders can easily transport mangoes to other cities including Dhaka at very low fares.
