Local administrations and officials at Bangladesh Water Development Board said flood situation remains the same though water levels in rivers have started to decrease.
The flood-affected people are facing severe food crisis and also do not have access to safe drinking water.
Roksana Khatoon, deputy commissioner in Gaibandha, said the government has already started to distribute relief materials in affected areas.
“More dry foods are needed,” said a representative to a local government body in Bogura, adding that people cannot cook as flood water entered their houses.
Approximately 16 lakh people have been affected in Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Bogura, Sirajganj and Naogaon districts.
Officials and representatives of local government bodies have confirmed 18 deaths in the districts.
The water level in the Bangali River in Bogura has crossed the danger level and it might even get worse during the monsoon.
