Relief distributed among flood-hit families in tangail

Emergency relief has reached 475 flood-affected families who had been stranded for weeks in the remote Shushua Char area of the Jamuna River in Tangail.
The urgent relief distribution was conducted under the project entitled "Emergency Relief for Flood-Affected People in Shushua Char", funded by Human Concern International (HCI) and implemented by the non-governmental development organisation, Susilone.
Each family received 25 kilogrammes of rice, 5 kilogrammes of lentils, 3 litres of soybean oil, 2 kilogrammes of salt, 5 kilogrammes of flour, 5 kilogrammes of potatoes, 1 kilogramme of detergent powder, 4 bars of soap, a 20-litre water jar, 2 kilogrammes of sugar, 50 oral rehydration saline packets, one pack of sanitary napkins, spices and water purification tablets.
Organisers held the distribution event on Friday, 10 October, in the courtyard of the Shushua Welfare Association office.
The programme was attended by Mostafa Bokuluzzaman, Deputy Director of Susilone; Md Delwar Hossain, Accounts Officer; Kazi Foysal Kabir, Monitoring Officer; Md Ariful Islam, Project Coordinator; Md Naimul Islam, Compliance Officer (Bangladesh) of Human Concern International; and Md Mominur Rahman, President of the Shushua Welfare Association, along with local dignitaries, students and parents.
Beneficiaries stated that the prolonged floods had damaged crops and that the relief provided comfort and hope.
