Rain likely in parts of country
The country's highest temperature on Monday was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius at Ramgati in the Chattogram division, while today's minimum temperature was recorded at 20.4 degrees Celsius at Tangail in the Dhaka division.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (26 May) forecast rain in different parts of the country during the next 24 hours beginning from 9am.
According to a Met Office bulletin issued this morning, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over the Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over the Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Chattogram divisions; and at one or two places over the Khulna and Barishal divisions.
Moderately heavy to heavy rainfall may occur at places over the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, the bulletin said.
Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged, while night temperature may rise slightly across the country.
A mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Khulna, Satkhira, Jashore, Chuadanga, and Lakshmipur and may continue, the bulletin added.
