Rain likely in different parts of country
The highest temperature on Friday was recorded at 37 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi, Ramgati and Mongla, while the minimum temperature recorded today was 22 degrees Celsius in Nikli, Saidpur and Sylhet.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (23 May) forecasted rain in different parts of the country during the next 24 hours from 9am.
According to a Met Office bulletin issued this morning, "Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind and lightning flashes are likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram division "
Besides, it said, moderately heavy to heavy falls may occur at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
The bulletin also forecasted that the day temperature may fall slightly and the night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.
A mild heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Madaripur, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Lakshmipur, Bandarban, Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Jashore, Chuadanga & Patuakhali, and it may abate from some places, the bulletin added.
