Rail communication between Dhaka and the rest of the country was partially disrupted as a container train's carriage derailed today (19 March).
Earlier in the day, the rail communication was completely suspended on both up and down lines for about three hours due to the derailment.
"The rail movement returned to normal around 2:30pm after the removal of the two wagons from the rail tracks," Mohammad Anwar Hossain, station master of Kamalapur Railway Station, told the media.
He said While a container train was entering the station at around 11:35am, two carriages from the rear derailed on the down line. Subsequently, all train movements at the station were halted.
"Around 1:10pm, the authorities started resuming the operation of train on single track from the station. Now, train movement resumes on both lines." the railway official added.
