Public administration lost neutrality due to politicisation: Adviser Zabihullah
“Together we will build a discrimination-free, inclusive, accountable and corruption-free Bangladesh,” he added.
Adviser to the Ministry of Public Administration, Md Ismail Zabihullah, has said that public administration in Bangladesh lost its neutrality and efficiency due to politicisation over the past one and a half decades.
"Over the last fifteen years, public administration has been politicised. As a result, it lost its neutrality and efficiency. Almost every sector of the country experienced a decline, and the administration was no exception," he said this morning (27 February) at the Lakshmipur Circuit House during his first visit to the district after assuming office.
Referring to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's policy direction, he said, "Under the prime minister's policy, we will present the people with an efficient, neutral and merit-based administration. They will work as servants of the people, not as rulers."
"Together we will build a discrimination-free, inclusive, accountable and corruption-free Bangladesh," he added.
Thanking Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for entrusting him with the responsibility, Zabihullah said the premier had declared, "I have a plan," and has already begun implementing it. He described the prime minister's leadership as akin to that of a corporate chief executive.
"Like the CEO of an organisation, he closely monitors and reviews every detail and ensures work is delivered accordingly. It is remarkable and exceptional in the global context. It has been widely appreciated internationally and is an inspiration for us," he said, expressing hope for a bright future for Bangladesh.
He further said, "We have a deep emotional bond with the BNP and its symbol, but above all, Bangladesh is our primary identity." He noted that the political situation had changed significantly after the election and that the party now bears a major responsibility following its decisive victory.
"The commitments we made to the people and the trust they placed in us come with immense responsibility and accountability. Keeping that in mind, we will work unitedly in the coming days," he said.
He added that the goal is to build a liberal, democratic, prosperous, accountable, and inclusive Bangladesh.
"Fulfilling the pledges through which the BNP earned the people's trust is our sacred duty. Not only the BNP, but all political parties should work together to move the nation forward," he said.
