Sheikh Mujib's mural at Rajshahi College vandalised
The protesting students at Rajshahi College threw shoes, hit a mural with sticks, and began vandalizing the mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the campus.
Around 12pm today, a group of students gathered outside the college's administrative building before moving to the mural of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, located nearby.
The protesters removed the cloth covering the mural and stood in front of it, chanting slogans against Awami League and ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
At one point, the students began throwing shoes at the mural and attempted to damage it with sticks.
The majority of the protesters are believed to be activists from Islami Chhatrashibir and Jatiotabadi Chatradal.
Ruhul Amin, a student from the Islamic History department who participated in the protest, said, "We've collected an excavator from the Rajshahi City Corporation. It will demolish the mural. We refuse to allow any traces of fascism or 'Mujibism' on our campus."
