Prime accused in Ctg double murder case arrested, foreign pistol recovered

Police have arrested Mohammad Hasan (37), the prime accused in a double murder case involving a targeted shooting on a car on Bakalia Access Road in Chattogram.
The arrest was made around 11pm yesterday (2 May) in the Noler Char Landless Bazar area of Hatiya in Noakhali, said Bakalia Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ekhtiar Uddin.
Police said they recovered a foreign-made pistol, two magazines, and two bullets hidden in a shopping bag behind a dressing table at Hasan's residence.
"We conducted a raid at his residence and recovered the weapons as per his statement," OC Ekhtiar said, adding that legal proceedings are underway.
According to police, the meticulously planned attack on 30 March involved 13 assailants on six motorcycles, targeting Sarwar Hossain Babla, a listed criminal from Bayezid Bostami. The motives were reportedly twofold: to establish dominance in the Bayezid Bostami area and to avenge the arrest of top criminal Chhoto Sajjad. Although Babla escaped unharmed, the attack claimed the lives of Mohammad Manik (30) and Abdullah (32).
On 1 April, Manik's mother, Firoza Begum, filed a case at Bakalia Police Station, naming seven suspects, including Chhoto Sajjad, his wife Sharmin Akhtar Tamanna (37), Mohammad Hasan, Mobarak Hossain Emon (22), Khorshed (45), Raihan (35), and Borhan (27).
