Pragoti Industries clarifies no local assembly of Toyota HiAce Commuter
The company said the vehicles in question were fully built units imported from Japan.
Pragoti Industries Limited has issued a clarification denying reports that Toyota HiAce Commuter vehicles were locally assembled at its Chattogram factory.
In a statement published today (16 December), the state-owned manufacturer said some electronic and print media outlets had incorrectly described a programme held on 13 December at Pragoti Industries as the assembly of Toyota HiAce Commuter vehicles.
The company said the vehicles in question were fully built units imported from Japan. According to the clarification, Toyota Bangladesh Limited handed over 36 units of Toyota HiAce Commuter vehicles that were manufactured and assembled by Toyota Motor Corporation in Japan.
"No local assembly was involved," the statement said, adding that Pragoti Industries only imported the vehicles.
Pragoti Industries expressed regret over any confusion caused by the inaccurate reporting.
