BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has greeted the countrymen on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a Facebook post today (30 March), he said after one and a half decades people of Bangladesh would celebrate the holy Eid-ul-Fitr in a fearless, free and democratic environment following the ouster of Sheikh Hasina's regime.
This time, a new level of excitement and enthusiasm has been added to the joy of Eid, he said.
After the month-long fasting through learning the lessons of sacrifice, piety and restraint, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr has brought a message of universal unity, solidarity, compassion and unending joy of the Muslim Ummah, in addition to beautifying and purifying the lives of individuals, families, society and the state, said Tarique Rahman.
He extended his sincere greetings, congratulations to the world Muslim Ummah saying Eid Mubarak to all.
Tarique Rahman said even in such an unhindered period of holy joy and excitement in the minds of people, many mothers are not happy.
There is no festive atmosphere in many families, because the darkness of ignorance descended on millions of families who lost their children and relatives due to enforced disappearances, murders, kidnapping, and oppression unleashed by previous AL regime, he said.
The families of those who lost their lives in the movement to overthrow fascism do not have any joy of Eid today, he said.
"Through the pure joy of Eid-ul-Fitr, an important message reaches to humanity that- we are all for everyone." he said.
Tarique Rahman said, the message of Eid inspires a sense of close brotherhood by overcoming mental ugliness, injustice and cruel social inequality.
"And being imbued with this inspiration, it is our duty as Muslims to extend a helping hand and compassion to the relatively poor, neglected and deprived people of the society," he said.
He wished happiness, peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Bangladesh and Muslim Ummah across the world.
