Ministry issues new directives as educational institutions reopen after Eid break
The directive states that overall cleanliness of the campus and classrooms must be ensured before reopening the institutions.
All educational institutions across the country reopened today (29 March) after the Eid-ul-Fitr and Independence Day holidays.
However, to maintain normal functioning after the long break, the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education has issued several directives.
In a notification from the Ministry of Education signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Muhammad Helal Chowdhury on Wednesday (25 March), it was stated that overall cleanliness of the campus and classrooms must be ensured before reopening the institutions.
The directive mentions that this cleanliness drive should not be limited to the opening day alone but must be maintained throughout the year.
Alongside daily monitoring of classrooms and surrounding environments, emphasis has been placed on making institution-based cleanliness management more effective.
To cultivate a sense of responsibility and cleanliness habits among students, it has been instructed to conduct a special cleanliness campaign at least one day every week with the participation of teachers and students.
At the same time, every educational institution has been urged to undertake tree-planting programmes, regularly maintain existing gardens, and carry out activities to raise environmental awareness.
Meanwhile, in line with electricity and fuel-saving measures, academic activities have also resumed today in all public and private universities, which had been temporarily closed since 9 March.
According to the ministry's directive, all classes and exams were suspended from 9 to 28 March. To address the learning gap caused by the long break, special initiatives have been taken for primary school students.
For this purpose, it has been decided to keep all government primary schools open on the next ten Saturdays, during which regular classroom teaching will continue even on weekly holidays. Additional classes will begin from 4 April.
