The uncomfortable behaviour of some advisers has created doubts among public about the upcoming national election, BNP leader Humayun Kabir said today (24 October).
He made the remarks while talking to journalists after offering the Jummah prayers and paying respects at the shrine of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) in Sylhet this afternoon.
Humayun, the newly appointed party's joint secretary general, said, "BNP has always been ready for elections and that Tarique Rahman will return to the country soon."
He also said that people have no interest in the referendum or proportional representation (PR) issues.
Earlier on Wednesday (22 October), BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir was appointed as the joint secretary general.
Following his appointment, Humayun visited Sylhet and offered prayers at the shrine today.
Recently, he drew national attention by accompanying the chief adviser as a BNP representative during the United Nations General Assembly session.
