NCP opens nomination process for upcoming polls, to unveil primary candidate list by 15 Nov
The general application fee has been set at Tk10,000, while July fighters, farmers, labourers, and underprivileged applicants will pay a reduced fee of Tk2,000, the party says
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has officially opened its nomination process ahead of the national election, aiming to select "qualified and principled candidates through a transparent and inclusive procedure".
At a press conference held at the party's temporary office in Dhaka's Bangla Motor today (6 November), the party's Chief Coordinator and head of the Election Steering Committee Nasiruddin Patwary announced the launch of the nomination phase.
Party leaders also informed that the nomination process will continue until 13 November, and the preliminary list of candidates will be published on 15 November.
They further noted that the country's political landscape has long been dominated by a handful of influential figures, and the NCP aims to "break the old culture".
According to the party, nomination forms can be collected and submitted in three ways — directly from the central office, online through nomination.ncpbd.org, or via regional chief organisers and divisional organisational secretaries.
The nomination form includes questions designed to assess a candidate's views on ethics, transparency, and the party's philosophy of "new politics." Applicants are also required to submit their political biography and a nominal fee.
The party said the general application fee has been set at Tk10,000, while July fighters, farmers, labourers, and underprivileged applicants will pay a reduced fee of Tk2,000.
The NCP has also appointed divisional organisational secretaries to oversee the nomination process across ten divisions.
Highlighting the importance of multiparty democracy, Patwary said, "Every political party must contest the election under its own symbol — that is the essence of true pluralistic democracy."
On the issue of alliances, he said the NCP will not join any coalition unless the BNP-Jamaat alliance commits to genuine political reform.
