NCP launches election campaign by visiting mausoleum of three leaders
Nahid Islam said the party remains firm on the issue of the election scheduled for 12 February, just as it has been on justice and reform.
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has formally launched its election campaign by visiting the mausoleum of the three leaders.
The campaign started this afternoon (22 January) at the Doel Chattar area of Dhaka University, led by NCP Convener Nahid Islam. Senior party leaders, including Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary and Senior Joint Convener Samanta Shermeen, were present during the programme.
Nahid Islam said the party remains firm on the issue of the election scheduled for 12 February, just as it has been on justice and reform.
"Dhaka University has been the starting point of the Language Movement, the Liberation War, and the 2024 uprising. That is why we have chosen this area to begin our electoral journey. The upcoming election would be a movement against political domination" he said.
Nahid Islam also said Nasiruddin Patwary is contesting on behalf of the 10-party alliance against what he described as "new mafias," urging voters to support the alliance in the election.
The NCP convener said the Election Commission has not been acting in a neutral manner.
"We have repeatedly said that the Election Commission, from the government's position, is not behaving impartially and is favouring a particular party," he said.
After visiting the mausoleum, party leaders and activists began a "March for Justice" procession towards Motijheel. The march later ended in front of the National Press Club.
