NCP to contest 30 seats in national election: Asif Mahmud
Those who submitted resignation letters remain valuable to the party, and their letters have not been accepted, leaving an opportunity to work together, he said.
The National Citizen Party (NCP) will contest in 30 seats in the upcoming national election, the party's spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan said yesterday.
In an interview on Channel 24 on Monday night (12 January), the former adviser said the NCP will fight the election as part of the 11-party electoral alliance.
"Our party leaders and workers have accepted this decision in the interest of the nation and the broader public. This alliance is formed to challenge dominance and push for reform," said Asif, also chairman of NCP's Election Management Committee.
He further said the NCP made significant concessions to form the alliance and that a similar spirit among other parties helped bring it together.
"InshaAllah, this alliance will form the next government," he added.
He also described the alliance as strategic rather than ideological, emphasising that it was formed with practical goals in mind.
Later, Asif noted that those who submitted resignation letters remain valuable to the party, and their letters have not been accepted, leaving an opportunity to work together.
