NCP to appoint ‘ambassadors’ in 270 seats: What will they do?
Role of the ambassadors The appointed ambassadors will be responsible for coordinating local-level outreach in support of the ‘yes’ vote. Their tasks will include engaging with local communities, meeting voters, and explaining the party’s position on the referendum.
The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced constituency-based programmes across the country to ensure a 'yes' vote in the upcoming referendum, including the appointment of ambassadors in 270 constituencies, particularly in areas where the party does not have its own candidates.
The information was confirmed this afternoon (11 January) in a statement issued by Mahabub Alam, joint chief coordinator of the NCP and head of its election media sub-committee.
According to the statement, the party has adopted a seat-based campaign plan nationwide to mobilise support for the 'yes' vote. In constituencies where the NCP has candidates, those candidates will directly lead referendum-related campaigning, maintaining close contact with party leaders, activists, supporters and general voters.
However, in 270 constituencies where the NCP does not have candidates the party has decided to appoint "ambassadors" or representatives.
Role of the ambassadors The appointed ambassadors will be responsible for coordinating local-level outreach in support of the 'yes' vote. Their tasks will include engaging with local communities, meeting voters, and explaining the party's position on the referendum.
They will also highlight the importance of the referendum and communicate why the NCP is urging voters to cast a 'yes' vote.
Mahabub Alam said, "The constituency-based ambassador system would help the party effectively reach voters across the country. "This strategy will enable us to clearly present the party's position on the referendum to the public and ensure broader engagement at the grassroots level."
