Mushfiq Us Salehin resigns from NCP over alliance with Jamaat
Salehin also cited concerns about internal party practices, noting a lack of transparency in decision-making and insufficient democratic processes
Mushfiq Us Salehin, founding member and joint secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has resigned from the party.
He submitted his resignation letter to party convener Nahid Islam today (1 January).
In his resignation letter, Salehin said he had always sought to fulfill his duties "honestly" while remaining committed to the party's declared goals, ideals, the spirit of the July Uprising, and democratic principles.
He expressed principled disagreement with the party's recent decision to join the Jamaat-e-Islami-led ten-party alliance ahead of the upcoming national elections.
"I do not agree in principle with this decision," he wrote, adding that it is inconsistent with the aspirations of the July Uprising, democratic values, and the political goals of building an inclusive civic state.
Salehin also cited concerns about internal party practices, noting a lack of transparency in decision-making and insufficient democratic processes.
He said these factors, combined with the political character of the new alliance partners, led him to step down.
