Mandatory dope test for Jucsu candidates today

A dope test for candidates contesting the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (Jucsu) election is being held today (9 September).
The tests began at 10am at the university's Medical Centre, as per announced in a notification signed by the university Election Commission yesterday (8 September).
In this regard, Professor AKM Rashidul Alam, member secretary of the Election Commission and the university's proctor, said, "A meeting of the commission was held with students, where the decision to conduct a dope test was taken based on the majority opinion. In response to this demand, all candidates have been brought under the purview of the dope test. I hope everyone will cooperate."
A Jucsu vice-president candidate said, "The initiative taken by the university administration is truly commendable. We hope the transparency of the dope test will be maintained. This initiative will help ensure qualified leadership in the selection of candidates."
Notably, the Election Commission notification stated, "Keeping in mind that the candidates' election campaigns should not be disrupted, samples for the dope test will be collected according to a hall-based schedule. Candidates participating in the Jucsu and Hall Parliament elections are requested to be present and submit samples to complete the dope test."
