Let the people decide on party disagreements during reform talks: Tarique Rahman
Political parties have a responsibility to provide employment for those without work

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman today (8 September) urged the interim government to put unresolved political disagreements in the hands of the people.
Noting that political parties have reached consensus on some issues but remain divided on others, he emphasised that the government should present its policies and ideals directly to people, allowing voters to decide on matters where political consensus could not be reached.
Speaking virtually at the biennial conference of Thakurgaon district BNP, Tarique Rahman said until Bangladesh returns to the path of democracy by confronting all conspiracies at any cost, every leader and worker of the party will remain vigilant and committed to restoring democratic governance.
Constitutional, governance reform efforts stall as political parties fail to reach consensus
He said that if BNP forms the government in the next election, the party will dedicate itself fully to building a Bangladesh envisioned by the people.
Thanking people for their support for BNP, the BNP leader said no party could grow this large without the people's trust. He also expressed gratitude to BNP leaders and workers, noting that they have taken the party to the doorstep of the people.
Tarique warned that some actors may try to disrupt the democratic process, urging party leaders and activists to remain alert against any threats.
He cautioned that elections will not be easy, contrary to what some believe, and stressed the importance of safeguarding the democratic system against potential anarchy or a return to dictatorship.
The BNP leader also highlighted pressing issues, including mass unemployment and the challenges faced by women, urging political parties to provide solutions.
Reflecting on Bangladesh's history, Tarique noted that the nation's independence was achieved at the cost of millions of lives, and despite repeated conspiracies, the people's resolve has consistently preserved the country's democratic journey.
