Khasru for empowering people, cutting power to prevent reemergence of fascism
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that BNP wants every citizen of the country to be empowered as per their constitutional rights, and a plan has been chalked out to bring necessary changes in the future in this regard.
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that the power of the people should be increased by reducing the power of the state, as more power in the state ultimately helps fascism emerge and creates a worrisome situation for the countrymen.
Khasru made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at the founding anniversary function of Chattogram Dharma Ujjal Parishad, held at the National Maritime Academy this afternoon.
Captain Ataur Rahman and a member of the BNP's International Affairs Sub-Committee, Israfil Khasru, spoke at the function as special guests.
BNP leader and former CCC councillor Sarfaraj Kader Russel, Roknuddin Mahmud, Trustee of Buddhist Welfare Trust Rubel Barua, Pritom Barua Dhalim, Bipul Chakma, Alo Chakma, Shukarjit Chakma, Jibon Chakma, Robi Chakma, Biddaashay Chakma, and Mamuni Chakma, among others, addressed the function.

"Countrymen were kept hostage, and frustration gripped the people in the past as more power, compared to the people, had concentrated in the hands of the state. That's why it is high time to cut state power by enhancing the power of the people," Khasru observed.
"We have to maintain prevailing inter-religious harmony and social unity. We want every citizen of the country to work freely, ensure their participation in all affairs, and take leadership as per their capacity," he said.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury also said that women's larger-scale participation in all social and state affairs was a key prerequisite for sustainable development and bringing effective changes in society.
"We are equal, and the rights of every citizen, irrespective of caste, creed, and religion, are equal. So you need not feel inferior in this regard," Khasru added.
