Jatiyo Party continued to help sustain fascism, so it has no right to do politics: NCP's Nahid
The Jatiyo Party has no right to do politics as it has helped perpetuate fascism in the country, National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam said today (1 September).
"Jatiyo Party continued to help sustain fascism, so it has no right to do politics," Nahid said after visiting Nurul Haque Nur, president of Gono Odhikar Parishad, who is currently receiving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, according to a statement posted on the NCP's Facebook page.
Nur was injured on 29 August as law enforcers charged batons after a clash broke out between activists of his party and Jatiyo Party in the capital's Kakrail.
Nahid also reiterated the NCP's stance on the Jatiyo Party, echoing the party's demand for effective action against the party during a meeting with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus yesterday.
"All those aligned with the Awami League, the Jatiyo Party, and their associates, as well as anyone trying to restore the Awami League, will be expelled from Bangladesh," Nahid said today.
Nahid also reaffirmed his party's stance on the upcoming elections.
According to the NCP Facebook page, he said, "Bangladesh will undergo reform, elections will be held, and a new constitution will be enacted. This is our promise to the people."
