Jamaat, other parties submit memorandums to Dhaka DC pressing for PR-based polls, July Charter implementation
In addition to Jamaat, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Jagpa, Khelafat Majlis and Nizam-e-Islam Party submitted separate memorandums through their representatives.

Several parties, including the Jamaat-e-Islami, have submitted separate memorandums to the Dhaka deputy commissioner to press home their demand for the implementation of the July Charter and a national election under the proportional representation (PR) system, among others.
Jamaat's submission to DC Tanvir Ahmed today (12 October) was led by Nurul Islam Bulbul, ameer of Jamaat's Dhaka south unit.
In addition to Jamaat, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (Jagpa), Khelafat Majlis and Nizam-e-Islam Party submitted separate memorandums through their representatives.
Bulbul said that if any conspiracy is hatched to bring a particular party to power, the Election Commission will be given a strong response.
He also accused the chief election commissioner of having a political identity, which he said the public knows, and urged the CEC to step down if he cannot deliver a free and fair election.
The party reiterated its demand to hold a public referendum to implement the July Charter before the upcoming general election.
The demands are: issue an order to implement the July Charter and hold a referendum on that order before the national election scheduled for next February; introduce the proportional representation (PR) system in both houses, including a proposed upper house, for the election; and ensure a level playing field for all to guarantee a free, fair and acceptable election.
They also want visible progress in prosecuting the crimes, mass killings and corruption committed by the fascist government and a ban on the activities of the alleged supporters of the autocracy – the Jatiyo Party and others in the 14-party alliance.
