The interim government must clarify to the people as to whether Shafiqul Alam is Press Secretary to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus or spokesperson of the government, the editor of New Age Nurul Kabir said today (21 May).

In a Facebook post today (21 May), he wrote, "This is high time the interim government of Bangladesh clearly explains to the people at large as to whether Mr. Shafiqul Alam is 'Press Secretary' to the Chief Adviser Yunus or the spokesperson of the government."

Nurul, also an eminent journalist, said, "If he is the spokesperson of the government, as he apparently poses to be, Prof Yunus and all his cabinet members must take the responsibility of Mr Shafiqul's frequent aspersive comments on various individuals, political parties and streams."
