Fakhrul states business as profession, declares Tk12 lakh annual income in affidavit
Fakhrul listed his sources of income as business, consultancy, agricultural revenue, bank profits, and honorarium
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has declared his profession as business and an annual income of over Tk12 lakh in the affidavit he submitted to the Election Commission for the 13th national elections.
Fakhrul is an aspirant candidate from Thakurgaon-1 constituency.
According to the affidavit published by the Election Commission on its website today (31 December), Fakhrul's total movable and immovable assets stand at Tk1.52 crore. In addition, he owns a car, 10 bhoris of gold, and a double-barreled gun, though their value was not disclosed in the affidavit.
Fakhrul listed his sources of income as business, consultancy, agricultural revenue, bank profits, and honorarium.
His earnings include Tk1.80 lakh from agriculture, Tk1.97 lakh from business shares in Hurmat Ali Market, Tk6 lakh as a consultant to Ijab Group, Tk1.98 lakh as honorarium from The Mirzas Private Limited, and Tk7,901 from bank profits. He also holds Tk1.25 crore in cash.
Movable and immovable assets
His movable assets include Tk3.82 lakh in three bank accounts, 1,428 shares in The Mirza Private Limited (valued at Tk100 each), electronic products worth Tk1.5 lakh, and furniture worth Tk1.4 lakh. His immovable assets include five acres of agricultural land valued at Tk60,000, a two-storey ancestral house worth Tk10 lakh, 4 decimal commercial non-agricultural land worth Tk5 lakh, and market shares worth Tk3.45 lakh.
Fakhrul noted that these are acquisition values and the current market value is unknown.
He reported total assets of Tk1.52 crore in his 2025-26 income tax return, showing an annual income of Tk11.83 lakh and expenses of Tk8.71 lakh. Income tax paid amounted to Tk72,889.
Fakhrul told the Election Commission that he will fund his election expenses from his personal income, which could amount to Tk51.16 lakh.
Legal cases
Fakhrul stated that he has 10 ongoing cases, including six under the Explosive Substances Act and two under Section 500 of the Penal Code, though proceedings are currently suspended. He was previously accused in 50 cases.
Assets of Fakhrul's wife
Fakhrul's wife, Rahat Ara Begum, declared assets worth Tk2.43 crore in her 2025-26 tax return. She holds Tk11.74 lakh in three bank accounts, Tk1.66 lakh in cash, Tk34.28 lakh in savings certificates, and Tk45.11 lakh in term deposits.
She owns a private car valued at Tk26.52 lakh, electronic products worth Tk1 lakh, furniture worth Tk1 lakh, and 20 gold bars, though their value was undisclosed.
Her immovable assets include 2.84 acres of agricultural land valued at Tk51.84 lakh, 1,200 decimals of non-agricultural land in Thakurgaon worth Tk39.72 lakh, a 5-katha plot in the capital's Purbachal worth Tk8.54 lakh, and a 1,950-square-foot flat in Gulshan-2 valued at Tk20.50 lakh.
She reported an annual income of Tk12.50 lakh and paid Tk1.20 lakh in income tax.
