Extortion attempt at Gulshan: BNP's Salahuddin demands probe into advisers over possible connection
“It is necessary to reveal to the public whether any of the advisers are involved in the extortion incident in Gulshan. If any investigation isn’t carried out, further questions will arise against them [advisers],” he says

BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has demanded an investigation to determine whether any adviser of the interim government is involved in the alleged extortion attempt made at former MP Shammi Ahmed's Gulshan residence in the capital recently.
"It is necessary to reveal to the public whether any of the advisers are involved in the extortion incident in Gulshan. If any investigation isn't carried out, further questions will arise against them [advisers]," Salahuddin told the media today (14 August).
Salahuuddin's remarks come amid circulation of a video on social media, where Jane Alam Apu – a former leader of Bangladesh Gonotantrik Chhatra Sangsad and an accused in the case filed over the extortion attempt at Shammi's residence – is seen giving a confessional statement.
In the video, Apu stated that he met with an adviser in front of a Gulshan hotel in the early morning of the day of the attempted extortion incident.
However, Apu's wife Kazi Anisha claimed at a press briefing today alleged that the confession was forcibly extracted from her husband by BNP leader Ishraque Hossain.
Anisha further alleged that Apu was abducted and subjected to horrific physical torture to extract the "forced false confession" under Ishraque's leadership.
