The Election Commission on Tuesday requested possible voters to assist with the data collection process of the ongoing electoral roll updating programme by applying online and submitting the downloaded copies of their online applications to the enumerators.

The door-to-door data collection campaign of the countrywide voter list updating programme will continue till 3 February.

"The people, who were born on or before 1 January 2008 but have remained out of the electoral rolls, are requested to apply online with accurate information and necessary documents to become voters and submit the downloaded copy of the applications to the enumerators and assist the data collection process," said the EC.

On 20 January, Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin opened the voter list updating programme-2025 at Savar Upazila Parishad auditorium in Dhaka.

Following the data collection process, the collection of biometric data of the eligible voters will be taken from 5 February to 11 April.

Besides, the enumerators also collect applications from the existing voters who intended to change voting addresses and the data of deceased voters for dropping their names from the voter lists.

The EC will publish the draft updated electoral rolls incorporating the names of new voters on 2 January 2026. Following the resettlement of claims and objections, the commission will make the final electoral rolls on 2 March 2026.

According to the existing voter lists, published on 2 March 2024, there are 121,850,160 voters in the country.
