CU Shibir-backed panel unveils 5-point election agenda
They also demanded uninterrupted electricity and internet services on election day and the provision of transportation for students to reach polling stations.

Chittagong University's Central Students' Council (Cucsu) and hall council elections have drawn fresh attention as Sampritir Shikkharthi Jote, a student panel supported by Islami Chhatra Shibir, held an urgent press conference today (11 October) outlining election concerns and demands.
The panel called for strict measures to prevent outsiders from entering campus, rapid publication of polling agents' lists, election of five student members to the university Senate, and bringing the entire campus under CCTV surveillance.
They also demanded uninterrupted electricity and internet services on election day and the provision of transportation for students to reach polling stations.
Speaking at the press conference held at 2:30pm at Jarultola, vice president candidate Ibrahim Roni said, "We want to know the administration's stance on electing student representatives to the Senate. Moreover, an environment must be created so that all students can vote without obstruction."
He added that, despite prior assurances from the election commission regarding increased security, outsiders are still entering the campus and using university transport, including e-cars. "We want to know when the election commission will enforce the rules," Roni said.
Roni also expressed frustration over the delayed release of polling agent lists, noting, "Even though information was collected from us, the commission has not released the lists yet, which is hindering preparations."
He highlighted that most campus CCTV cameras are not functional and stressed the need for continuous electricity and security from polling to the result announcement. The panel also requested an extension of shuttle train schedules and a clear roadmap for bus services.
Addressing questions about alleged violations of conduct rules, Roni defended fellow panel member Jihad Hossain, who faced criticism over remarks regarding Chakma attire.
"Jihad was unaware. It was an inadvertent mistake, and he has already apologised through the media," he said. On allegations of classroom campaigning, Roni said, "I have explained to the election commission. I only went to my classroom and spoke with the students."
