Entire government syndicate linked to drugs trade: Shibir president
He further alleged that activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations were bringing drug dealing onto university campuses.
Islami Chhatra Shibir President Nurul Islam Saddam has alleged that a government-linked syndicate is involved in the drug trade and claimed that leaders and activists of BNP and its associate organisations are engaged in drug dealing.
He made the remarks today (22 June) while addressing a freshers' reception programme for first-year honours students of the 2025-26 academic session at Satkhira Government College.
Speaking as the chief guest at the event organised by the town unit of Chhatra Shibir, Saddam said, "Jubo Dal and BNP leaders and activists are involved in the drug trade. If we take a stand against this, they want to wipe us out from this world using weapons and ammunition."
He further alleged that activists of BNP and its affiliated organisations were bringing drug dealing onto university campuses.
"Islami Chhatra Shibir has zero tolerance against drugs. When we speak against drugs, they get enraged. Then they call us Razakars. I ask, 'I was born in 1993, how did I become a Razakar?' Then they say, 'you are Razakars in spirit'. Just a day after speaking against drugs, the DC of Sylhet has been withdrawn," he said.
The Shibir president also alleged that "the entire syndicate of the government is involved in these drugs."
Among others, District Jamaat Ameer Shahidul Islam Mukul addressed the programme.
Speakers at the event called on students to build a healthy and disciplined life under the banner of Chhatra Shibir.
